These ‘drawings’ began life as instructions to my students at the start of a drawing workshop. They were, largely, made up on the spot and range pretty widely: colour, mass, space, food, Frank Lampard, philosophy, composition, death, jokes, art theory and ornithology.

 

My approach to teaching has developed over the years and I have to use every possible analogy and metaphor to avoid talking directly about the subject….it is far too complicated. These images actually contain all the possible elements for a great drawing (but not necessarily in the right order). Good luck trying to unpick it.
