Joseph Long (b. London 1985) is an artist based in St Leonards-on-sea. His work unfolds as a combination of installations and text-based works, investigating in particular, image production and transnational discourse. 


Joseph Long studied Painting at the Royal College of Art, London (2010) and Fine Art at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam (2008). Recent solo presentations include: Marble Kayak, The Beach House, 2013, Denim Harlequin, Rowing, London, 2012, Joseph Long 2010, MOT International, London, 2011, Attached to Plants, Public School, Los Angeles, 2010. In 2010 he undertook a residency at the Cite Des Art in Paris, culminating in a solo exhibition and a series of artworks under the title Plastic Blood shown at the Royal College of Art.  Recent two person exhibitions include: Figure of Merit with Jesse Wine, WAC, London, 2012 and The dot at the top of an i with Chris Barr, Trinity, London, 2010. Recent group exhibitions include: OFF-SITE, Rod Barton Gallery, London, 2012, The Secret life of Plants, Peles Empire, London, 2011, New Contemporaries, ICA, London, 2008, PA///KT PlatformKunst, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, 2007. Central to Long’s practice are the publications that function in parallel to his artworks. An anthology of these “Readers” is due to be published in 2015.
